Mentoring Hats is a publication intended to capture the best practices for developing and maintaining effective mentoring relationships.

Mentorship has positively shaped many aspects of my personal and professional life. As an engineering student and scientist, I’ve also discovered the value of peer mentoring and the satisfaction of working with great mentees. Along the way, however, there have been many challenges and missteps. I would like to share all of these experiences with you as well as hear your own.

I invite you to join this community if you:

  • Want practical advice on how to develop and maintain fruitful relationships with your mentors
  • Want to acquire skills to guide the development of your mentees effectively
  • Recognize the value of mentorship as an instrument for personal and professional growth, one that is built by reciprocity, mutual respect, and taking multiple hats at times

“The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves” — Steven Spielberg
