Familiar Stranger

A Poem

Rebeca Ansar
Sep 22, 2019 · 1 min read

perhaps prematurely
we threw each other back
into the city’s anonymity

but our memories
jeer at me from
nooks and crannies
bars and shorelines

they taunt
that there is no path
back to the past, but

no matter the distance
that ossifies our story
as more litter of my love life

are still frustratingly familiar.
