uncomfortable emotions

a poem

Photo by Aline de Nadai on Unsplash

for me
suffering is a comfortable seat
I sit there with my jasmine tea
watch the seasons come and go
sun, heavy clouds, and then the rain
thunder arrives. I stay the same.

this quiet sadness
flows like a calm river
through my arteries
my inheritance.
