a poem

Photo by Julien Tondu on Unsplash

Fatigue sits next to me
propped up against my favorite cushion
her eyes are two sunsets aching to go under.

I wonder how many sleepless nights I have cost you
the thought invites Shame inside, dirty shoes and all
she takes a seat and demands tea, cookies, and the proper things.
