God’s Got an Army

God’s got an army marching through the land
Advancing in their ranks according to their tribes
Not breaking formation, not crossing paths
Their eyes fixed on Jesus and their ears to His word

They hold fast to the field the Lord assigns
Faithful to the work they have been deployed
They sink their feet into the ground, sword in hand
And war till the word cleaves to their arms

The earth quakes beneath them, walls fall before them
Never again will there be clouds without rain
They will leave a trail of peace and prosperity behind
No nation will live in oppression around them

Like the horse, they laugh in the face of battle
Because they fight with the host of heaven
They loose no courage at the threat of the enemy
Because they set out at the sound of the trumpet

They do not seek the glory of the tougher battlefront
Because all the glory belongs to the Lord
They do not hide where the battle is weaker
Because there shall be no weak one among them

They do not crave war for the sake of battle
They are not aroused by the thirst for blood
Only that the works of darkness may be cleaned up
Only that the name of Jesus may be lifted high

They fight only for love’s sake, not for glory
They pursue not for plunder but to free God’s people
Their heart becomes tender as women and children are oppressed
But their arms are strengthened by the power of love

Their hearts are rid of jealousy and pride
As one with a sword is not less or greater
Than the one who has 4 arrows in his quiver
Five, three or one all given by the same spirit

The armor bearer is not intimidated at all
By how the warrior swings his sword back and forth
He knows his purpose is to save the life of his brother
While his brother ensures that nobody takes his own

No weapon formed against them shall prosper
Every tongue that rises in judgment, they condemn
Fiery darts would be quenched like flickering candles
They will bounce off as though children hauled pebbles

The sun will stay up until the last enemy is down
The moon will stand still until the Lord bring victory
They’ll burst forth with praises and the chant and shouts
They’ll drop the bows and take up the harp

They sing a farewell for the moon and the sun
Because that would be their last too
The Everlasting light will usher in the next dawn
And there will be no more darkness and night
