Jesus, The Word
God’s word is not just what is written
It’s not the ink on the pages of the book
It’s not the words and punctuation
It’s not the phrases and syntax
God’s word is The One about whom it is written
God’s word is not just what is spoken
It’s not the sounds from the preacher
It’s not just the scriptures vocalized
It’s not the illustrations articulated
God’s word is The One about whom it is spoken
He is the fire that burns when we read
He is the light that comes when we hear
He is the narrator of what is written
He is the originator of what is spoken
He is the author that expounds and explains
He is the One we meet when the Book is opened
He is the Person we see when the veil is removed
He is the Life we get when the Word is eaten
He is the Glory we gain when the Word is lived
He is the Flesh we add when the Word is heeded
The Word is not just what is spoken
He is The One who does the speaking
The Word is not just what is written
He is The One who moves the writers
He is The One who helps us to live out the life
