Highly experienced US Securities lawyer, Marc Powers, has been appointed special adviser to the board of MERJ Exchange.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Marc Powers as special advisor to the board of MERJ Exchange. Marc is a securities lawyer with 35 years experience counseling U.S. and foreign businesses on complex securities law matters relating to regulatory, litigation and governance issues.

Having begun his career with the SEC enforcement division, Marc went on to build securities litigation and regulatory enforcement practises for major US firms.

He enjoys international recognition as one of the leading authorities and thought leaders at the intersection of blockchain technology and the evolving regulatory environment for securities businesses using the technology.

As an adjunct professor at Florida International University College of Law Marc teaches “Blockchain, Crypto and Regulatory Considerations”. His thought leadership endeavours include regular appearances on CNBC and Bloomberg, as well as the monthly opinion column in CoinTelegraph, “Powers On..”, renowned for its incisive views relating to the regulation of digital assets.

Marc holds a BBA, Finance, University of Wisconsin- Madison, and a JD, Hofstra University School of Law, where he recently served on the Dean’s Advisory Board for five years. Marc built and led both the Securities Litigation & Regulatory Enforcement Division, as well as the Hedge Fund Industry, Practises for AMLaw 50 firm, BakerHostetler. He sat on the Wolters Kluwer Securities Regulation Advisory Board, from 2010 until his retirement from law firm practise in December 2020. He is an early member of Global Digital Finance, a worldwide association which establishes international protocols and accreditation for digital assets. Marc also acts as an adviser to a number of other blockchain companies.
