Our vision for MERJ Exchange
MERJ is pioneering the next generation of global financial markets. We strongly believe in the transformational potential of blockchain and distributed ledger technology. However we also strongly believe in the principles of securities law, investor protection and regulation. Our mission is to build a bridge between these two worlds and build an ecosystem which takes the best of both: The established protections and processes offered by regulation; combined with the technological possibilities of digitization.
Blockchain has the potential to radically reduce frictions thus empowering millions of people to participate directly in the capital markets. Coming from an emerging region, we recognize this as a crucial step in building more robust and democratic capital markets.
We also firmly believe in building an access point to these assets for all investor classes. Our regulatory status makes us an appropriate venue for the biggest institutional investors, down to individuals. We are building a network of financial intermediaries which will give us access to the broadest range of institutional investors available, but we are also building web, app and mobile portals to allow our ecosystem to integrate seamlessly with a generation of mobile-first users. By creating access for this broad range of investor classes we hope to bring much needed liquidity to the market for security tokens.
Our listing model borrows from the AIM Market in London or the Venture Exchange in Toronto. A global network of sponsors will perform due diligence on any issuers before making a recommendation for listing to the exchange. This is a tried and tested process which is designed to ensure the quality of the companies submitted to our exchange for trading. It is the same rigorous process that an AIM or TSVX issuer would go through.
We believe this model can bring high-quality issuers to MERJ and provide the best possible liquidity. Part of our mission going forward is to build out this global network to ensure we can implement our vision. We invite you to join us in building a modern exchange for the 21st century.
