Being a bibliophile is not so hard but deciding your next read surely is a struggle. 2021 being the extended version of 2020, physical meetups in a book club are still a no-no. But it always feels so good to have someone who understands your perspective as well as has a variety of other perspectives on just one single book. Doesn’t it?

So, where do you find them without being able to meet them?

Celebrity Book Clubs!

You can access the top picks of your favourite celebrities from their own virtual bookshelves (look out for their book club seals on their recommended books!), and enjoy listening to their views about your next “to-read” books while sipping coffee on your cosy bed.

Here’s a list of some of the popular ones you should join!

1. Oprah’s Book Club

Oprah called her latest pick, Caste by Isabel Wilkerson.

You have come here to get a great taste in books. Oprah has been recommending books since 1996 and has been a pioneer in popularizing celebrity book clubs!! Not just that, she picks a book each month and also interviews with their authors. Her most recent pick is Caste by Isabel Wilkerson.

You can follow her on Instagram or visit her website for top picks, podcasts, newsletters and what not!

2. Reese’s Book Club x Hello Sunshine

Reese’s Book Club pick for January is Outlawed by Anna North

Reese’s Book Club celebrates women’s stories by discovering a woman-centred book chosen by Reese herself every month. Her team posts podcasts, playlists inspired by her picks, and organises lots of book giveaways! It doesn’t matter whether you’re a young adult or an adult, you can find all kinds of books here.

You can join the fun discussions on her Instagram, Facebook or Goodreads pages. Their pick for January: Outlawed by Anna North

3. Our Shared Shelf by Emma Watson

Our Shared Shelf is a shared feminist book community founded by Emma Watson during her journey as a Goodwill Ambassador in UN Women. Every two months, Emma or a poll of the book club members pick a book based on feminism or gender equality genres and share their abstract views on them. For January and February, they are reading Disability Visibility by Alice Wong as they explore the topic of Disability Awareness.

Most recently Emma has announced that she’ll be continuing recommending books on her Instagram page with the hashtag #oursharedshelf instead of her regular bi-monthly book announcement via the board.

To join our muggle Hermione’s book club, go to the book club’s Goodreads group and follow their Instagram account.

4. Andrew Luck Book Club

Tagged as “NFL’s unofficial librarian”, Andrew Luck started his book club over a Men in Blazers’ interview! This book club inspires people of all ages to read by recommending Andrew’s two picks in a month; one for kids and the other for more mature readers. Isn’t that so sweet?

Also during the NFL star’s football season, the book club occasionally provides recommendations from “surprise” hosts. Members share their views on the recommended books using the #ALBookClub hashtag on their website, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages. Their latest book selections are: Rookie Book:- Sulwe by Lupita Nyong’o and Veteran Book:- Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon

5. Between Two Books by Florence Welch

Who would have thought that we would be blessed by the book recommendations of the lead singer of Florence and the Machine?

Yes, you read that right! Dedicated to Florence Welch’s love for reading, along with her team, Florence recommends her top picks every month. Their latest winter recommendations include On Connection by Kae Tempest, Year of The Monkey by Patti Smith and more!

To join their discussion tribe, follow their accounts on Instagram or Facebook.

6. Sonali’s Book Club by Sonali Bendre Behl

Sonali’s long lost love of reading was reunited back in 2017 when she started reading again for her son. Every month, she shares a new read for her fans along with conversations with authors, SBC Wordsworth sections, and giveaway weeks.

She starts off this year with her recommendation: The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley

Follow her on Instagram and Facebook for more updates.

7. Belletrist by Emma Roberts

Emma and Karah gave us these major friendship goals when they started their book club called Belletrist which actually began by sending each other books in the mail and writing little notes on them. So cute!

Apart from their monthly book picks, their newsletters include Weekly Belletrist Quote, Belletrist Brief (current reads of their favourite authors and influencers), and special giveaway winners. To add the icing on the cake, they also pick independent bookstores to visit!

To join their friendship and the shared love of books, follow them on Instagram or Facebook.

Their January read: Outlawed by Anna North

8. Dear Alyne’s Book Club by Alyne Tamir

Instagram celebrity Alyne Tamir has her own private book club on Facebook. Don’t worry, you can join it too! Just click “Join Group”(a small amount of patience is required to get your join request accepted (>_<)) and then let yourself to the world of Dear Alyne’s favourite picks every two months.

Join now to know more about her recent pick!

9. Read with Jenna by Jenna Bush Hager

NBC News’ “Today” show anchor Jenna Bush Hager swoons over bibliophiles with her usual book recommends. She is a bookstagrammer who has followers up to 121K. Her January pick is none other than the New York Times Bestseller, Black Buck by Mateo Askaripour.

Follow her on Instagram for her fabulous monthly recommendations!

10. Tonight Show Summer Reads by Jimmy Fallon

Not exactly a book club but yeah, definitely good for book recommendations. Jimmy Fallon hosts a Summer Reads Book Club every year on his Tonight Show, where he selects the winner book from his picks. Last year, unfortunately, due to 2020 circumstances, we couldn’t see one. Hopefully, this year, he again comes back with his selection of amazing reads!

To check out his selection of books over the years, subscribe to him on Youtube or watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon only on NBC.
