Artstation: “AI art free zone”…

New ways of human chauvinism

When you visit Artstation right now, you will see this. Images generated with AI are denounced. And non-AI artists post this image, visually and historically problematic (I always get allergic seeing white-red-black propaganda sign).

“AI art free zone”. Absolutely distasteful. They think they support human art. Instead, they prove how vile human hatred is.

The reaction has several reasons. Artists applying Diffusion models sometimes (inflationary) use the modifier “Trending on ArtStation”. The issue is: the training dataset for different Diffusion models includes images by artists from ArtStation — without their consent.

This is indeed a democratic problem — one should always have an opt-out to be excluded from the training dataset. The human right to be forgotten.

Every artist has to have the possibility to opt out of training datasets for generative AI models. It’s an elementary human right to be forgotten.
