John Lennon by MidJourney

Of all the songs bequeathed to us by the 20th century, “Imagine” is probably one of the most powerful, inspiring, naïve and hopeful.

Imagine

was, according to Lennon, Yoko Ono’s favorite word. She used it in her concept art works in the 60ies. The song was dedicated to her, to all dreamers, and to entire world — and especially now this song is crucial.

/imagine

is a very important word for everybody, who uses MidJourney.

Example for a MidJourney prompt

With this command you activate MidJourney bot at Discord to create images. The example above shows how the portrait by John Lennon at the beginning of this article was created.

So I was thinking — what if we let AI imagine the wonderful world from the lyrics by John Lennon?

And here is it. “Imagine”, imagined by AI. Every line beginning with “Imagine” was used as prompt for MidJourney.

Imagine

Imagine there’s no heaven,
it’s easy if you try.
No hell below us,
above us only sky.

Imagine all the people
living for today.

Imagine there’s no countries,
it isn’t hard to do.
Nothing to kill or die for
and no religion, too.

Imagine all the people
living life in peace.

You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one.
I hope some day you’ll join us
and the world will be as one.

Imagine no possession,
I wonder if you can.
No need for greed or hunger,
a brotherhood of men.

Imagine all the people
sharing all the world.

You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one.
I hope some day you’ll join us
and the world will live as one.
