The https://digidoppel.com/ platform is still in beta, but we have already released more accurate estimation for avatars from measurements.

What is an avatar from measurements?

By avatar, we mean a 3D mesh, created in our standard SMPL body format. The avatar includes the SMPL rigged skeleton as well as pose-corrective blend shapes. The avatar is fully compatible with all 3D animation or cloth simulation programs.

To create an avatar, you can simply enter 1 or 2 or up to 18 different body measurements on digidoppel’s “Measurements Avatar Configuration” panel. For our example below, the hardest part was finding a good sample of measurements. We decided to try googling Arnold Schwarznegger’s body measurements and use those on digidoppel :)

After entering measurements, users can choose whether they want the rigged avatar for 3D animation purposes or just a static 3D mesh by choosing between the .FBX and .OBJ output formats respectively. For both options, user can also choose a static pose or an animation from the drop down list of our sample poses and animations. All of this, done directly on the same digidoppel page with just a few clicks, and that’s all.

The request will be put into our queue for processing. This usually completes within a minute, and you will have the output mesh ready for action!

New features we’re still working on will include a 3D viewer that allows users to play with the measurements on a slider and see the body size changes in realtime. Coming soon!
