Today we launched our brand new Chat API at Mobile World Congress 2016. The Chat API is a powerful platform that enables you to engage with all your customers in real-time using WeChat and Telegram.

Update: we have decided to stop offering WhatsApp via Chat API for the time being. This decision was taken because there is no reliable and sustainable way for us (or anyone else) to connect with WhatsApp at the moment. WhatsApp for the past few weeks has been shutting down unofficial ways to connect, making the service too unreliable. Thus we’ve also removed WhatsApp from this blog post.

Our new API, which is currently in beta, allows companies and brands to integrate the world’s most popular chat applications in their own software or CRM tools like Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics and Zendesk (who is currently testing the API). From there they can send and receive text, audio, images, videos and even location sharing to create a richer customer experience.

One API to connect them all

Markets are rapidly changing and so are the apps your customers use to communicate and express themselves. Customers want you to be where they are, and directly connecting to many of these different platforms can be a daunting task. It’s an environment of ever-changing APIs and connectivity requirements.

When you connect to our Chat API, you only need to integrate once and we will take care of the rest — giving you access to an ever-expanding library of global chat applications. We are currently working on adding support for Line, Viber, Facebook Messenger, Kakao and more.

The user is in complete control

We want to make sure users won’t be spammed with mass messages from all different kind of companies, but only get the messages they want to receive. For that reason, users have to indicate whether they trust you or your brand by sending the first message (opt-in) before you can send anything to them. Users can opt-out whenever they want.

At MWC2016? You can experience the Chat API yourself by visiting our stand in Hall 8.1, Stand 1E58. Like to get beta access to our API? Sign up here.
