Meta Gamma Delta DAO

As we watched the final days of 2022 wind down and reflected on the challenges and opportunities of the market, Meta Gamma Delta DAO continued its mandate of investing in and supporting women-led Web3 projects. In 2022 we issued $34.5K in grants, spoke at key industry panels, collaborated with partners, and created a cohort and education platform to introduce the next wave of women into Web3.

Looking Back at 2022:

Grants:

MGD prides itself on being an investment vehicle for women. Our mandate to find and support women-led projects is how we contribute to blockchain diversity. Although 2022 saw the bull run slide into a bear market and now crypto winter, we are proud to have issued $34.5K DAI and sponsored the following projects:

  • LYNX Technology — Founders: Alexandra McCarroll & Sarah Hamburg — 14,520 DAI

A backend data management system for real-time biometric user data collected through wearables and interfaces (including brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), fitness trackers and eye-tracking technologies) https://mobile.twitter.com/lynx_technology

  • ARTVX — Founders: Ava & Tara — 10K DAI

ARTXV started out as the first NFT collective for neurodivergent artists and consequently the first Web3 community for the disabled community. It has since become the #1 agency and community, providing neurodivergent artists with everything needed to sell their work on the blockchain, leaving the artists to focus on being artists. https://www.artxv.org/

  • SHYRO — Founder: Kat Kuzmeskas — 10K DAI

Fitness tracker where anyone in the world can connect and earn for their health and wellness data. Shyro is a web3 application at its core. Shyro memberships, point structure, and profit sharing is managed on-chain, automatically via an NFT and smart contract structure. https://www.shyro.health/

MGD Showed Up in Real Live

MCON: At this year’s event Zayi Reyes, head of Ecosystem Marketing at Chainlink and founding member of MGD led a panel “Unlock the Potential of Your DAO.” Panelists presented a deep dive into building, maintaining & evolving DAOs.

Participants included Allie Joy Tsahey, Founder of Baddies in Tech; Nichanan Kesonpat, Head of Platform at 1kx and founding member of MGD; Juliette Chevalier, Developer Advocate at Aragon and co-founder of Surge; and Steph Orpilla, Developer Relations at Polygon and core member of BLU3 DAO.

Additionally, we partnered with our frens at Boys Club to present, “Future of Consent and Decentralized Identity.” MGD member Danielle Bennett hosted an interview with Disco.xyz’s CEO Evin McMullen. Their in depth convo explored the evolution of identity, who owns our information and how to maintain sovereignty of the assets that make us — US.

Additionally MGD contributed and presented at the MetaPod pitch competition. https://vimeo.com/683566071/0b91a3d99e

Networking at Other Events

We participated in a less official capacity — but still representin’ — at other key defi and developer conferences.

Consensus — Austin: Abbey Johnson, CEO & Chairwoman, Fidelity Investments and crypto O.G.

SmartCon — NYC

Collaboration:

MGD is honored to be a pledged partner and ally with H.E.R. DAO LATAM. This is the largest initiative focused on onboarding Latin American women into Web3 through Unstoppable Women of Web3 and CryptoConexion. Their mission is to onboard 5 million Latin American women into Web3 by 2030 by bringing together a coalition of companies, organizations and communities to provide education, resources, build community, identify professional opportunities, and invest in research. https://twitter.com/herdaolatam

Fellowship Program:

In our commitment to education and onboarding women to Web3, MGD partnered with leading blockchain company ConsenSys to create the MGD Fellowship program. This provided 15 women the opportunity to learn Blockchain Essentials for an overview of blockchain and Web3 application. Or a developer bootcamp for women interested in coding. The fellowship program also hosted a weekly speaker featuring accomplished women in Web3 discussing their adventures in blockchain and the challenges unique to women in the space. ttps://consensys.net/resources/

Cohort One:

2022 was a time of transition. The founding members of MGD established the base layer for the DAO. It was now time to add layer one and cohort one was born out of the MGD revival this fall. We established a core group of members who are picking up the DAO operational duties from the base layer mentor O.G.’s. It’s a learning process as we develop a smooth transition of duties.

Looking Ahead:

Market conditions are expected to remain challenged in 2023 but we see that as our time BUIDL. We are so encouraged by the enthusiasm of women, frens and allies of all ages who continue to find us and support our mission. We will be opening applications for more active contributors to apply for our next cohort in the new year.

We will be taking a more pro-active approach in 2023 for seeking out the freshest, juiciest Web3 projects with bounties. We are also seeking to collaborate with allies at institutions who are committed to diversity in Web3. We will continue to build our grant treasury for disbursement. We will also be looking at self-sustaining treasury management opportunities that will allow us to fully leverage and grow our treasury with interest-yielding defi tools.

BUIDL, collaborate, evolve, grow. Come join the MGD community! https://metagammadelta.com/
