Meta Gamma Delta DAO dedicated to engaging and investing in women in Web3, recently co-hosted two events at ETHTokyo, that aimed to foster collaboration and empower women in the crypto space. The events were YOSAKURA Girls and Big Sister DAO, organized by MDG members Hiromi and JackAlpha, respectively.

YOSAKURA Girls

YOSAKURA Girls gathering was organized by MGD cohort member Hiromi during ETHTokyo. The goals of the event were to strengthen bonds among female Web3 participants and foster mutual support while introducing the MGD community to Japan. The event brought diverse and remarkable women together to create new connections.

Despite the rain that forced last-minute changes to the schedule, Hiromi was able to leverage the power of three communities: MDG DAO, GreenPill Japan, and SheFi to provide a safe space for networking, exchanging ideas, and making new connections.

Participants included female devs participating in the ETHGlobal Tokyo hackathon, founders and project members of crypto projects and communities, and students interested in crypto.

After the event, the participants established a Telegram group, allowing for ongoing communication and DAO collaboration. To learn more about YOSAKURA Girls, contact Hiromi through Telegram here.

Big Sister DAO

What started as plans for an intimate post-panel dinner resulted in the birth of a new DAO! MGD member, fren, and ally JackAlpha connected with Mano, a university student and host of ReFi Tokyo.

JackAlpha, also of BanklessJP, considers some DAO mentors in the web3 space to be his “big sisters.” These women have helped him throughout his Web3 journey, and he now sees MGD as an opportunity to pay it forward. JackAlpha wanted Mano, his new “little sister,” to meet the influential people in his network. The dinner reservation for three grew to a table for 12! The gathering was joined by other core MGD members Minchi and AnnaAlexa.

The event’s goal was to foster more conversations in an intimate setting rather than a larger networking event. JackAlpha recognized the unserved need to connect the less connected to a much bigger, international Web3 community. The dinner resulted in the formation of Big Sister DAO: a DAO aimed at empowering and connecting women in Web3.

The DAO will offer opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and support for women in Web3, helping to create a more inclusive and equitable ecosystem. To learn more about Big Sister DAO, contact JackAlpha at jackalpha_xyz.

Making Web3 Better

Efforts of individuals in empowering women in Web3 through events like YOSAKURA Girls and the birth of Big Sister DAO demonstrate the power of a passionate individual leveraging a community to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in Web3. By fostering an environment of mutual support and creating opportunities for connections and ongoing communication, we can create a more resilient and sustainable industry that benefits everyone. Empowering women in web3 is crucial for the industry’s long-term success.

Web3 can be complex, technical, and intimidating. But initiatives such as MGD, SheFi, and GreenPill Japan are helping to bridge that gap by providing education and support to women.
