Ukrainian people have shown in this war that they are inventive and will seize every opportunity to support their country. One of the most noteworthy initiatives is META HISTORY — Ukraine’s NFT museum that keeps a record of the events of the war on the blockchain. The team of META HISTORY released the 1st part of its collection of artworks on March 30 to great success, collecting $800 000 from the sales — 100% of which went to help Ukraine.

What is an NFT you might ask? It translates to “non-fungible token”, a piece of code and a file on the blockchain that represents a digital asset. The novel part of NFTs is that thanks to the cryptographically powered tech, it’s possible to claim and transfer ownership of digital assets — in META HISTORY’s case, artworks.

The project garnered some media attention during its launch in late March, gathering a community of 100+ (now more like 200) top-notch artists. Moreover, META HISTORY is supported by the people in crypto, politics, and business, like Brittany Kaiser (the founder of #OwnYourData, a courageous whistleblower, and a blockchain activist), Dima Buterin (serial tech entrepreneur with multi-million dollar businesses, angel investor & mentor for blockchain startups with a mind of a philosopher, and a proud father of Vitalik Buterin), and Alona Shevchenko (co-founder of Ukraine DAO which uses the power of web3 tech and community to support Ukraine).

At May 1st the team released the 2nd part of the collection (so-called 2nd drop). Famous artists like Waone Manzhos, Sestry Feldman, Danya Shulipa, Irene Neyman, and more have created true masterpieces to commemorate the events of the war between March 2nd and March 14th.

If you want to participate in the community & donate to Ukraine — while getting a beautiful artwork in return, have a look at their on the website.

“To protect the innocent lives of people in Ukraine, speed is of the utmost importance. The global crypto community has risen to the occasion to support our Ukrainian brothers and sisters quickly in their time of need, while Russian aggression continues to perpetrate a long list of war crimes. We all must continue to #HelpUkraineWithCrypto and assist in protecting freedom, sovereignty, and human rights. The META HISTORY museum will go down in history as the most important impact project for rebuilding historic and cultural monuments damaged in the war. The blockchain is here to preserve the historic value and help protect freedom for all”.

Brittany Kaiser, founder #OwnYourData, Bitcoin activist.
