MetaMedia’s second MakerBot 3D printer has been broken since the summer. Since then, kids have been forced to wait in line for hours at the mercy of the one remaining machine.

But thanks to one ingenious Maker, they now have two functioning printers again. Yes, that’s right, MetaMedia staff was unable to get the printer to work for almost six months, but one Maker finished the task in just a few hours.

The recently repaired 3D printer and the variety of tools used to fix it.

After deducing that the problem was caused by a backup of old filament jammed inside the printer, the Maker tried a variety of tools such as wire and other sharp objects to unclog the jam. His hours of trial and error paid off, and he jumped for joy when he was able to thread a new piece of filament into the machine and revive it.

The Maker threads a new piece of filament into the printer.

When asked if he was happy that he had solved one of MetaMedia’s biggest problems, he simply responded, “Yes, because now I get to 3D print.” He then got to work on printing a super cool set of wheels while everyone else at MetaMedia looked on in awe and admiration.

The Maker gets to work on his 3D printing project right away.

Three cheers for this innovative Maker for tackling a real-world problem and using his creativity to find a solution.
