A guiding principle being MetaMedia is HOMAGO, which stands for Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out. Our goal at MetaMedia is to take makers from hanging out to geeking out. To start of course, they hang out, which they do simply by being in MetaMedia. The next phase, messing around, involves the makers finding something they are interested in.

A popular game in MetaMedia, as well as around the world, is Minecraft. Minecraft is basically using building blocks to make an assortment of structures, and can involve collarboration with people around the world or friends right next to you. The two modes, Creative and Survival, allow players to mess around and build cool structures or play with a more focused purpose of evading enemies. Our makers enjoy playing in both modes while in MetaMedia. And they have built everything from houses and castles to cities and towns. But how could this lead to Geeking Out?

I cannot 100% say for sure. I can say this though, our makers are creative, innovative, intelligent kids who only require a tiny spark before doing amazing things. We have provided the foundation, they truly enjoy this game. And the spark to geek out could come from anywhere, a frustration with an aspect of the game and a desire to change it, a desire to create a game of their own choosing and design, or a host of places I probably cannot guess. And geeking out could appear in a variety of forms, like makers making a game of their own, or creating a new world, challenge, or activity in Minecraft or doing something equally creative that I cannot fathom with my limited Minecraft knowledge. But, rest assured, when this moment of creativity sparks and our makers jump into action, I will be there to capture it.
