MetaMedia Bytes is a weekly MetaBlog feature, showcasing bite-sized stories and other digital media artifacts built by middle-school Makers at MetaMedia.

Abi, Tumblr Poet Laureate

This school year, Abi has developed a strong passion for creative writing — sharing with us poems, prose, and even the beginning chapters of a science-fiction novel. Today, she showcased a new piece called “You and Me”, which you can hear in the video above. When we asked her if she had ever posted her work online, she said she hadn’t but was very excited about the idea of being a published author. Today, she created a Tumblr account, posted three poems, and began following blogs across all of her interests (including music, culture, art, and poetry) in hopes of getting comments from her friends and professional poets. You can follow her work at aaisraeli.tumblr.com.

DJ Jacoby on the Board

Almost every Maker who visits MetaMedia listens to music — whether on Spotify or YouTube — but only some know how to remix their favorite tunes to create something original. Today, Jacoby has been tinkering with our digital DJ workstation and figuring out the best way to combine his favorites: “679” by Fetty Wap and “Don’t” by Bryson Tiller. He’s been learning how to add filters, scratch on the turntable, and cross-fade so his transitions are seamless.

Nile and The Vampire Hunter

As featured in an earlier blog post, Ny’Jari continues to work on his stop-motion magnum opus, Nile and the Vampire Hunter. Ny’Jari often improvises scenes and dialogue, all of which he voices himself. When asked for more details on his project, Ny’Jari said:

“You can find out more if you follow me on YouTube.”
