MetaMedia or Project Runway?
MetaMedia doesn’t always have to be all about science and math — Makers have the chance to work on whatever they want, including a passion for fashion design.
One young Maker, who has designed and created many items of clothing in the past, broke out the sewing machine again today, while another debuted part of her winter fashion line.
Ryan was inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. for his most recent project, a piece of denim adorned with the civil rights hero’s name, which the Maker drew on cloth with markers, cut out and sewed onto the base fabric.
As he worked intently on his creation for several hours, he kept his headphones in and watched YouTube videos.
He never once looked up to ask how to use the sewing machine or what he needed to do next.
Obviously, he had done this before, and this project was a piece of cake for him. Here’s hoping we see more of his unique designs in the future!
As for Sophia, another budding fashion designer, she is in the midst of creating a complete collection for her fancy fashion show at MetaMedia’s winter showcase. MetaMedia even took her to choose and purchase her own fabrics so she could make the vision in her head come to life. With all of this support from her friends and the staff, it’s no wonder she’s already accomplished so much.
But it’s not all about work. MetaMedia also became her personal runway, where she practiced her catwalk and gave her BFFs advice (which she called “training her models”). Even Ryan joined in on the fun!
These two creative kids will have very bright futures, and it all started when they got the chance to explore their interests at MetaMedia.
