A Maker interviews his friends for his MetaMedia documentary.

We’re not the only ones who have taken on the important task of documenting the MetaMedia process.

One Maker has been set on making a movie for the past week, brainstorming a slew of different ideas, including just wandering around the room, wielding a Canon camera and candidly capturing his friends in action. Today, however, a staff member helped him focus his idea a bit. He decided to interview a variety of other Makers and create a documentary about this unique space, in the hopes that he could share it with others at the upcoming MetaMedia showcase.

The Maker plays back his interviews on the camera to make sure they turned out well.

His questions include:

“What are you doing?”

“Why do you come to MetaMedia?”

And finally, a question of his choosing, which offers him a great opportunity to express his creativity and imagination while producing this movie. He’s been asking each interviewee a different one. He’s asked his friends about their favorite card game, Magic, and he asked me, “Who’s your favorite staff member here to work with?”

His techniques include using lots of up-close shots (especially of his own face) and zooming in and out frequently. Why? Who knows.

When he found out that I was writing this blog post about documenting his documentary, he exclaimed, “Inception much?!”

The Maker interviews me for his movie.

Although this Maker can be silly at times, this documentary gives him the chance to take initiative, learn more about MetaMedia and his fellow Makers, and explore interesting videography techniques. I know his passion for film will only grow in the future.
