Now your memories anywhere on planet earth can be preserved, plus a few other juicy updates and sneak peaks

Memories Anywhere is Live

Yesterday morning we released one of our most important updates to date — the ability to save a memory to any location or address on the map. We’re calling it Memories Anywhere and it’s the start of series of additions and improvements we’re making to the memories experience on Metablox.

Pivots & Iterations

Our initial plan was to limit memories to cities where we’ve released blox. We were off to a great start with wonderful cities places San Francisco, Miami, Singapore, and New York — but we quickly realized that this limitation was inhibiting our mission to preserve our most important memories.

One big difference between Metablox and other real world based metaverse projects is that our NFTs (we call them Blox) are hand drawn by our team and members of the community. This allows us to accommodate the peculiarities of our city streets and buildings, but it’s also a time consuming process.

With Memories Anywhere, we’re able to maintain a precise map, but also open up the world to memories.

As a Bonus…

As part of the launch of Memories Anywhere, the first person to add a memory to a location is also being given rights to reserve and purchase the blox once it’s drawn there (unless said location is a Landmark — in which case there’s no special bonus 🤷🏻‍♂️).

MetaMask Transfers

A significant percentage of our Neighbors are relatively new to Web3 and chose to purchase their Blox with fiat through our Stripe integration. That easy onboarding was important, but we also want to follow best practices for owning digital assets.

Earlier this week we released the ability to transfer Blox from a Metablox custodial wallet to MetaMask. Currently the best experience is on desktop, followed by Chrome on iOS. There’s some known issues with MetaMask and Android, so we’re not supporting that until the issues are fixed to avoid any potential issues.

Coming Soon…

In addition the to Memories Anywhere and MetaMask transfers we’ve got a number of other awesome upgrades coming to the Metablox memory experience as well.

Collections

As the team has traveled and uploaded our own memories, we realized some memories are connected. Think of the holidays or a vacation, there’s clusters of experiences that are connected, but also distinct.

We’re calling this soon to be released feature Collections.

Moments

Sometimes there are things you want to preserve from daily life, but they don’t necessarily need or warrant a long narrative to be associated with them. It could be a family walk, or something else from daily life — whatever the reason we’re empowering you to capture them.
Moments are the feature we’re releasing soon this new form of memory preservation.

Coinbase Wallet

Because so many of our Neighbors are new to crypto — adding support for Coinbase wallet is an obvious way for us to support them.

Road Map Progress

Despite the recent turmoil in the crypto markets, we keep on building. Here’s a mini road map of what we’ve done in the last few months.
