How MetaCert protects you from US Government related phishing scams
As we continue to classify websites that are “Verified as Safe”, we’re constantly looking for new ways to scale how we do things. And we recently found a way to verify every Government URL in the world. That’s a lot of URLs.
The update
We pushed an important update to our backend classification technology last night. If you use our browser based security solution to protect you, your organization, or your family from malware, phishing and ransomware, you will benefit directly from this update. You don’t need to update your software. It will just work automatically.
The benefit
In short, it should be almost impossible for our customers to fall for a fake US Government website.
Every US Government website that uses either .GOV or .MIL will now automatically display the Green Shield. Moreover, every sub-domain and every associated URL for every US Government domain will now display the Green Shield. As soon as we’re happy with the performance and accuracy we’ll do the same for all other Governments around the world.
