HOW TO: Create a Discord Account

If you are not a gamer you probably haven’t had much contact with the world of Discord and are wondering what the fuss is about. In this HOW TO guide we will explain not only what it is but how you can be part of it.

First, what’s Discord?

Discord is a free chat app that allows you to chat in real time using text, voice or video with friends and different communities. It was originally created for video gamers to interact with each other while playing games, but it has now reached over a hundred million users, making it one of the most popular ways to connect with people with similar interests around the world.

How to make an account on Discord

Ok, now that we know what Discord is and its relevance, let’s take a look at how to open an account. It’s super simple and it only takes a few minutes:

Desktop

Go to discord’s website and click “Login” on the top right.
Click “Register” under the sign in button.
Enter your email address, username, password and your date of birth. Then accept the terms of use and click “Continue”.
Verify you are not a robot with captcha.
Go to your inbox folder and verify your email address (if you can’t find the email, check the spam folder).

Mobile app

Go to the Play Store or Apple Store and download the Discord app on your smartphone.
Click the “Register” button.
You can choose between registering with your mobile number or email address. Once you’ve entered either one, you will receive a confirmation code via text message or email.
Enter the code or click the confirmation link.
Enter a username and password
Enter your date of birth and accept the terms of use.
Complete the registration by clicking “Next”.

You are almost done

Congratulations! you have successfully created your Discord account and now it’s time to look for like-minded people. Click “Explore Public Servers” (if you are on the desktop version, you can find it in the vertical menu on the left), and you will be directed to the Discover page, where you can type the subject you are looking for, it could be gaming, NFTs, education, etc., and voilà! A whole world of new servers to explore at your fingertips.

PC (웹브라우저)

1. 디스코드 웹사이트(www.discord.com) 접속 후 오른쪽 상단의 “로그인”을 클릭

2. 로그인 버튼 아래에 있는 “가입하기” 클릭

3. 이메일 주소, 사용자명, 비밀번호 및 생년월일 입력 후 사용 약관에 동의하고 “계속하기” 클릭

4. Captcha로 로봇이 아닌지 확인

5. 입력한 이메일 주소의 받은 편지함으로 이동하여 이메일 주소를 다시 한번 확인 (받은 편지함에서 이메일을 찾을 수 없으면 스팸함 확인)

6. 계정 생성 완료

모바일 앱

1. Google Play Store 또는 Apple Store에서 디스코드 앱 검색 후 다운로드

2. 앱 실행 후, “가입하기” 클릭

3. 휴대폰 번호 또는 이메일 주소로 가입 (문자 메시지 또는 이메일을 통해 전송된 코드 확인)

4. 문자 메시지로 전송된 코드 입력 또는 받은 이메일 내 확인 링크 클릭

5. 사용자명 및 암호, 생년월일 입력 후 사용 약관 동의

6. “다음”을 클릭하여 계정 생성 완료
