We want to inform you that the Metadium network glitch that occurred on February 6th, 2023 has been fixed. Please find the details below:

Failure period:

2023–02–06 11:30(KST) ~ 2023–02–07 05:50(KST)

Cause:

The use of certain Nonce and Hash to generate and validate attestation values for blocks after the block number 57630000 resulted in an algorithm error that failed to validate.

Recovery:

1) Discover and analyze the corresponding verification failure phenomenon (block number 57630307).

2) Complete software patches while retaining existing blocks.

3) Confirm normalization from block 57630308.

Future measures:

Additional analysis of the algorithm error and elimination of additional risk factors.

The Metadium Team will work hard to prevent this situation from happening in the future.

장애 원인

57630000 블록 이후 블록의 증명 값 생성 및 검증 시 특정 Nonce와 Hash를

사용하면 검증이 실패하는 알고리즘 오류 발생

복구 과정

1) 해당 검증 실패 현상을 발견 및 분석 (“57630307”블록)

2) 기존 블록을 유지한 상태에서 소프트웨어 패치 완료

3) “57630308”블록부터 정상화 확인

향후 보완방안

해당 알고리즘 오류에 대한 추가 분석과 추가적으로 발생할 수 있는 위험요소 제거
