Metadium’s new partnership with Pangea Inc. promises further expansion in the metaverse

Dear Metadium community,

We are happy to announce our first partnership of 2023: Pangea Inc. Through this partnership; both companies will cooperate in developing new business opportunities in the Metaverse, including NFT and SBT projects.

Pangea Inc. has worked on multiple blockchain projects, including an artwork NFT platform, a K-content platform, and a P2E project. Pangea’s most recent project is SBT.PIZZA, a service that helps brands, institutions, and influencers to easily issue NFTs to consumers and fans and build strong communities. Via SBTs, the receivers can authenticate or commemorate experiences related to the issuers.

SBT.PIZZA is currently collaborating with Yonsei University to issue SBTs to students who satisfy qualifications like attending specific lectures, seminars, or activities.

With this partnership, Metadium will continue expanding its reach in the metaverse by adding more projects and uses of its technology.

NFTs and SBTs?

SBT stands for soulbound token, a publicly verifiable and non-transferable non-fungible token (NFT) that represents an individual’s credentials, affiliations, and commitments. SBTs cannot be bought or sold. They have to be earned.

Vitalik Buterin first introduced the concept in a paper titled “Decentralized Society: Finding Web3’s Soul,” where he defined SBTs as NFTs that are “publicly visible, non-transferable (but possibly revocable-by-the-issuer)” and the wallets that hold these SBTs as Souls.

The Metadium team will soon release an article where we go over SBTs in detail and how they compare with DIDs and VCs.

판게아는 미술 NFT 플랫폼, K-콘텐츠 플랫폼, P2E 프로젝트를 포함한 다수의 블록체인 프로젝트에 참여했습니다. 판게아의 가장 최근 프로젝트는 SBT.PIZZA로, 브랜드, 기관, 인플루언서들이 소비자와 팬들에게 NFT를 쉽게 발행하고 끈끈한 커뮤니티를 구축할 수 있도록 돕는 서비스입니다. 소유자는 SBT를 통해 발행자와 관련된 경험을 인증하거나 기념할 수 있습니다.

SBT.PIZZA는 현재 연세대학교와 협력하여 특정 강의, 세미나 또는 활동에 참석하는 등의 자격을 충족하는 학생들에게 SBT를 발급하고 있습니다.

메타디움은 이번 파트너십을 계기로 메타버스 분야에서 더 많은 프로젝트와 기술 활용을 더해 영역을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 예정입니다.

NFT, SBT?

SBT는 Soulbound Token의 약자로, 개인의 자격, 소속 및 업적 등을 나타내는 공개적으로 검증 가능하고 양도가 불가능한 NFT(Non-Fungible Token)입니다. SBT는 양도나 거래가 불가능하며, 획득 후 지갑에 귀속됩니다.

이 개념은 비탈릭 부테린이 발표한 <탈중앙화 사회 : 웹3의 영혼을 찾아서(Decentralized Society : Finding Web3’s Soul)>라는 논문에서 처음 소개되었습니다. 그는 SBT를 “양도할 수 없으며 공개적으로 볼 수 있는(그러나 발행인에 의해 철회될 수도 있는)” NFT로 정의하였으며, SBT를 저장하는 지갑을 Soul이라고 칭했습니다.
