Waiting for another update? It’s already here!

On Monday, the #MetaGate version 0.5.960 will be available, with a long-awaited voting function! Thanks to the whole community for patience and support!

This is an important step to strengthen decentralization. Very soon any member will be able to propose his own version of network software update to the entire community. So, if a majority votes for an upgrade, the update will become mandatory for the whole network participants, regardless of who authored the new version. Thanks to this format, the system will develop quickly, and the functionality will respond to the actual market needs.

You’re probably wondering how the process is organized. Is the renovation automatic? What if the code compromises the network? What happens if a node isn’t updated?

To dispel all your worries, there is no automatic update yet (but it may appear in the future). This is due to both network security and the opportunity to test the proposed innovations.

As for the nodes that don’t update on time, we suggest a fairly simple solution. For example, you create a vote to update Service Torrent to version 0.149, and in case of general approval, all node owners will be obliged to install the current version. If some nodes do not update, then the network will not consider the result of their work, and as a result, such outdated nodes will not receive rewards.

We have already mentioned these rules, and here is a fundamental addition: while voting, the current wallet balances are taken into account, not the number of users. Accordingly, the vote of one user with 500,000 #MHC will be “stronger” than the votes of five users with 20,000 #MHC each. This will help avoid multiplication of wallets aimed solely at affecting the voting results.

Of course, you can vote with a few wallets but can’t cheat the system by transferring coins from address to address. As long as a vote is active, the voices are recalculated with each block.

Voting on software issues will be valid if at least 50,000,000 coins participate in it. By the way, delegated coins are also taken into account, so it’s not necessary to undelegate them when voting.

And one more small innovation, besides an address of a voting wallet, users can see its name.

The web version got minor changes too — we have improved the interface and compatibility for the mobile version. You can vote and see your choice only in the #MetaGate app, and the web allows to track the list of current votings and check their results.

Check the instruction and FAQ for the voting on Readme page.

We believe that community solutions will help make #MetaHash even more convenient and faster!
