In recent months, the #MetaHash network has gained new important roles — so, it’s time to remember why Trust is important and why it is impossible to use all potential of the new roles and receive the corresponding reward without it.
In our opinion, the best defence against brute-force attack is an instant node blocking after an unsuccessful attempt. That’s why we chose the following way to evaluate a node’s reliability: if the node processes the transaction incorrectly or it is used to slow down/stop the network, the Trust level accumulated by the node decreases and its capabilities become limited.
According to WP and YP, a node can reach a Trust value of 1 after 6 months of continuous and successful activity for the network benefit. If a node passes the daily tests, its Trust increases by 0.005, but if the test results are disappointing, its Trust level drops by 0.05. If it has been found that a node has switched wallets information, Trust is reduced in 2 times.
Now all rewards are given to nodes with every level of Trust. But as soon as all roles are active, trust of the network&users to a node will mean as much as the hardware of the node’s owner. In addition, nodes with high Trust will have an impact on the votes needed for other types of consensus.
This is why we encourage #MetaHash enthusiasts to monitor the Trust level of nodes carefully — it will help to save the reward for them and their delegates.
