Meta Humans continues to celebrate women and girls in STEAM — girls who go big. Our mission is to help each young woman to achieve her own personal best destiny. That starts with reaching young people outside the classroom and building their confidence.

When it comes to inspiring girls to take-up coding, Girls Who Code has done an excellent job of shining a light on this issue and the fact that the biggest drop off of girls in computer science happens in their teenage years. The organization has brought excitement, resources, and even celebrities to the table to help girls see how powerful they can be in emerging fields, or in any profession they choose.

Megastar rapper Doja Cat’s DojaCode, which includes a challenge to use code to unlock exclusive content by the musical artist, is just one innovative example. Her project puts girls in charge, inviting them to virtually direct a music video and learn a bit of CSS, JavaScript, and Python along the way.

(Parents, you may want to make sure Doja Cat’s content, which is admittedly edgy, is suitable for your teen before you send her to the link.)

This approach a wonderful example of teaching without teaching. It’s pure fun — engaging, interactive, and self-driven.

Here at Meta Humans, we’re all about challenges that empower kids to unlock their own next level, no matter where they start or how far they want to go. We believe in rich, immersive environments. We believe in learning that accomplishes what traditional classrooms were never designed to do: help kids stand out.

We believe in learning that accomplishes what traditional classrooms were never designed to do: help kids stand out.

We focus on going beyond 21st century skills and an important part of that is how we teach those skills. Using the principles of gamification, our coding and robotics camps teach girls to love the art of coding, rather than a single language that may become out of date before they are old enough to start looking for a job in the field.

Instead of tasking them with memorizing the rules of code, we show them how to put them into action by allowing them to build their own battle bot and watch their hard work come to life.

Teaching kids the joy of learning, rather than just a day’s lesson or a passing grade, is a foundation for a lifetime of success. We show young people how to teach themselves so their skills never become obsolete. More importantly, we help them fall in love with the rush of cracking the code.

To all the girls pursuing computer science and technology, we see you, and we’re rooting for you. You rock.

To all the parents and educators who want more for our kids, we’re inviting you join our movement by CLICKING HERE.
