When FinTech found its match in two weeks | Kaleidofin finds their perfect Director of Data Science

The Story

Kaleidofin, a women-led wealth tech harnesses the power of financial solutions to uplift the under-banked customers of India. Providing access to intuitive financial solutions, Kaleidofin combines distinct financial products, with customer profiles and networks. In January 2021, Kaleidofin reached out to MetaMorph to help them hire a Director of Data Science.

The Challenge

Being a neo-bank, in a niche segment and solving the unique problem statement of providing solutions to underbanked areas, finding the perfect fit for Kaleidofin was a challenge. Additionally, the candidate also needed to be a cultural fit who understood the impact Kaleidofin was making and looking to make on a national level. Additionally, at the time, since the company only had an office in Chennai, there were locational barriers as well.

The Brief

Kaleidofin was specifically looking to welcome women in leadership roles, with an educational qualification of Master’s in Math, Probability or Statistics. Their ideal candidate would also have prior experience working with Credit Risk solutions in alignment with data science and analytics in the Indian Market. Additionally, someone who could join as soon as possible.

The Solution

Working with Kaleidofin, we began our search by looking for women who had graduated from Top Tier colleges such as IIM, IIT, and the like. Next, we were also looking for someone with more than a decade of experience in the financial sectors or banks in alignment with knowledge about Data Science and Analytics. Not to mention, someone who understood Credit Risk in underbanked areas as well.

After scouting for two weeks, we sent one candidate to Kaleidofin. An ISI New Delhi graduate with 14 years of experience, working with banks such as RBS, Bank Bazaar, Amex and more. Additionally, she also had a Master’s in Statistics and a Bachelor’s in Math & Statistics.

After a week of interview rounds, the candidate joined Kaleidofin in early February 2021.

After reaching out to MetaMorph, Kaleidofin had a new Director of Data Science within a month.
