I walked in and sat down on the comfy couch at my therapists office yesterday.

“Michelle. I have to first tell you about a change here. I will be taking an indefinite leave of absence.”

So, my therapist of over 9 months explained that she found out her husband of 25 years is a narcissist and she is kicking him out of the house.

My therapist is getting a divorce.

‘Wow. I’m sorry…’ I said.

“Yeah Michelle— I normally don’t tell my clients my personal stuff but you know — you and I are so close…”

Yes. We have been close. We’ve been confiding with each other for awhile now but — mainly about MY SHIT not HERS.

I listened as she told me about a new ‘younger’ guy she met and how he makes her feel alive.

Hmmm…and I‘m paying for this?

It dawned on me that she is ten years younger than I am. Maybe, I need to counsel HER now? Maybe because of all my own personal growth I am now ready to switch chairs with her?

This could be.

It made me laugh to think that maybe I had grown to the point where I don’t even need her anymore. Maybe I’m able to fly on my own now.
