New ETP Substrate Development News: Update from the Metaverse Team
The Team continues to develop the Substrate infrastructure working on multiple fronts. At this time, the Team’s efforts are focused on implementing a secure, hybrid POW — POS consensus and adding the Dagger — Hashimoto mining algorithm to ensure backward compatibility with the current mining process. The result of this will be a smooth transition when the mainnet is deployed.
For the current ETP POW miners, this means switching to a new mining pool, making it very easy to mine the new ETP.
The other development that we are excited to update you on is the implementation of smart contracts on the Substrate platform. At this time, we have identified and are testing viable technical solutions to deploy custom smart contracts.
As with all of our developments, we always keep in mind the end-user experience and aim to build a smooth workflow process that will be user friendly.
An internal ETP Alpha testnet is ready to be released and will be tested in the coming weeks. A Beta public testnet will be created and released shortly after that at a yet-to-be-determined time. Your participation in testing will be very valuable to the Team before switching to the mainnet.
The Team has also begun establishing the format and location of the Substrate documentation and tutorials specific to the New ETP Platform.
