MetaX Team Reflection

Throughout the second edition of ETHDenver, several common themes pointed toward the future of Ethereum development.

Solving UX Barriers

The first development theme, focused on by several leading Ethereum teams, is solving the UX barriers of user-onboarding. Long gone are the days where consumers are required to use a MetaMask-compatible browser and generate a wallet from scratch. Teams such as Fortmatic and Portis uniquely tackle this UX challenge through SMS-verification codes and username/password logins. Although the UX challenge is far from overcome, the Ethereum community is taking steps in the right direction to solve it.

Facilitating Grant Disbursement

The second major theme observed was the reemergence of DAO-like projects to facilitate grant disbursement for Ethereum development.

The first project we learned about was the Moloch DAO, led by Ameen Soleimani. By creating a DAO ecosystem where participants of the DAO get to vote on grant proposals, this project aims to solve coordination problems for Ethereum grant funding. Another project that is working to align incentives for Ethereum grant funding is Panvala, a ConsenSys-backed project. Panvala creates an ecosystem where grantees are given PAN tokens in exchange for work that “makes Ethereum safer.” This decentralized push to create a better Ethereum for the greater good is a concept we are excited to see progress.

Ethereum is our backbone, and we believe that working together as a community to create a stronger version of it is of the utmost importance.

We plan to use these UX solutions and learnings to #BUIDL a brighter Ethereum!
