Did you know that Wyoming has a rich history of being first?

For example, In 1869 the Wyoming Territory was the first to give women the right to vote. Then they doubled down by electing the first female governor, Nellie Tayloe Ross, in 1925. The first National Park was Yellowstone, in 1872, also located in Wyoming. And in 1977, when the state of Wyoming passed legislation that allowed for a new type of corporation called an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation), hardly anyone took notice, but by 1996, all 50 states had some type of LLC status and today two-thirds of all newly created companies are LLC’s.

Why am I I rattling off a bunch of impressive stats about the state of Wyoming being a trailblazer?

Well, you may recall that in March of this year, Wyoming Governor Matt Mead signed five, YES FIVE! Groundbreaking pro blockchain bills into law. It seems Wyoming is up to its old pioneering ways yet again and lucky for us all this time their sights are set squarely on the blockchain.

Five blockchain bills are signed into law!

MetaX has been heavily engaged in the legislative process taking place in Wyoming from the beginning. Our presence there is an indication of our commitment to be at the forefront of the blockchain revolution taking place all around us.

In fact, we just got back from the Wyohackathon held at the University of Wyoming from Sept 7–10, where we participated in 3 full days of hacking, networking, judging, and presenting on adChain!

Hunter Gebron explaining MetaX to WYOHackathon participant.

From sunup till sundown we answered questions about token-curated registries (TCR’s) and the state of affairs in digital advertising, cryptoeconomics, the future of blockchain technology, and everything in between. It was hundreds of hackers, and crypto enthusiasts all piled into a gymnasium together for three days of brain-intensive conversation. We emerged with a renewed sense of ourselves as being trailblazers in our own right.

Token-curated registries are still all the rage and given the adChain Publisher Registry is still the only TCR currently live on the Ethereum Mainnet, many are looking to us to show the way.

We have learned a lot so far. In both the practical realities of having a live dapp on the Mainnet and about TCR’s in general. It has come to our attention that some of the theoretical elements we initially spec’d out on paper about TCR’s do not necessarily hold true in the real world. It is time to think long and hard about token-curated registries and how to make them better. That is something we have been spending a lot of time on lately. And we think we have landed on some pretty nifty solutions that we are excited to announce very soon.

Hunter Gebron, presenting the adChain Registry and what we have learned about TCRs at WYOHackathon.

In our next blog post, we plan to highlight our learnings so far from the adChain Publisher Registry. Expect to see some real down to business talk about TCR’s, token-weighted voting, curation, and more. If you are interested in TCR’s or are looking to build one for your project, then we recommend that you read it. It will be a dose of reality but fret not, we are still optimistic, and you should be too!
