7 Inspired Napa Valley Tasting Rooms

CADE Howell Mountain

Being so close to Napa Valley, many of us in Silicon Valley have accumulated collections of incredible wines. What better way to share our bottles with friends and family with the addition of a tasting cellar or wine room? Here are 7 of our favorites from Napa Valley that we found inspiring.

Robert Mondavi

1. Robert Mondavi

Napa Wineries do not get more storied than the infamous Mondavi Estate. Although they have plenty of tasting areas, and even one of the best tours in the valley, there is only a privileged few who have the opportunity to taste in the library room. This glass enclosed room holds a long King Arthur table surrounded by wine stained casks. A rich scent of oak and cement mineral heightens the senses as you enter, and stashed on its walls — various vintages of Mondavi’s most prized wines.

Round Pond

2. Round Pond

Round Pond is known to have one of the most beautiful tasting rooms in the valley, and we’re using ‘room’ lightly. When you visit you will find a perfect balance of indoor/outdoor space built for entertaining and living. If you’re planning a backyard build out, you should visit Round Pond first.

Hall Rutherford House

3. Hall Rutherford

This is one of the most infamous rooms in Napa Valley, and also one of the most exclusive. Hall has a tasting room on HWY 29, and it’s just been remodeled and drop dead gorgeous, but if you’re fortunate enough to visit the Hall’s residence in Rutherford, just down the street from Meadowood you will find the Chandelier Room at end of wine of their tangents in their wine cave. The highlight is Donald Lipski’s magnificent “Chilean Red” chandelier, which is adorned with 1,500 Swarovski crystals. The cherry wood table below features illuminated onyx and reflects the chandelier’s beauty.

Kenzo Estate

4. Kenzo Estate

Maybe you grew up playing Street Fighter or various Capcom games. It’s CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto owns an ultra exclusive, no expense spared winery on Atlas Peak named Kenzo Estate. Outstanding wine aside, the vintage-modern farmhouse architecture inspires us. If you’re fortunate enough to visit in the morning, low fog creates an almost dream like setting. One of our favorites by far.

CADE

5. CADE Howell Mountain

This one is a bit out of the way, but so worth it. We always try to nab the last tasting as watching the sunset from this room is nothing but magical. Plumpjack spared no expense in the construction of this LEED Gold certified building. Simple, and stunning.

Ma(i)sonry

6. Ma(i)sonry

This is a spectacular experience if you find yourself in Yountville. It’s almost like hoarders gone right. Ma(i)sonry is a combination tasting room and art gallery. Nearly anything you can touch or taste is for sale. Curated like a living museum, if we had to use the hashtag #furnituregoals, this would be it.

Quintessa

7. Quintessa

One of the more impressive modern wineries in Napa Valley is Quintessa. Much like Round Pond they’re able to playfully weave the indoors with the outdoors creating seamless transitions with incredible views. Lots of right corners, and cement here.
