Ever since Facebook (now Meta) announced it was “a metaverse company” and was “building the future of social connection,” virtual worlds have entered the public imagination mostly as a dystopian future. We all have questions and even the most knowledgeable people in the space don’t know what the metaverse will look like in reality.

At Metropolis World, we see the metaverse as an opportunity to build a cultural oasis spanning digital platforms and crossing over into real-world physical experiences; we will create a 360’ ecosystem that is meaningful and inspiring to its community.

At our core, we’re offering more than just an open world; we’re building a vibrant Metropolis inspired by the world’s most dynamic and eclectic cities, along with a dash of our very own fantasy and lore. We are combining diverse communities, a rich marketplace, stories, real-world events, and gamification into a curated and next level Web3 universe.

Here are a few highlights as to why Metropolis World is unique:

1. Substance & Style: Our team have built, lived, and dreamed this world into existence; the experience is akin to stepping inside a video game with lore, stories, history, and conflicts already in place. Dine in at the Donut Shop and then walk up the street to repair your bike. Traverse a hanging bridge across two towers to experience a live show in an open-air concert hall, and then spend the rest of the afternoon at your favorite book club. You can do it all in Metropolis World, the Capital City of the Metaverse.

2. Our team have decades of experience in worldbuilding. From shooting films, writing stories, making music, and creating immersive theatrical productions in Times Square, we know what it takes to make Metropolis World more than the sum of its streets. Expect the best culture, content, and entertainment, along with a fantastical storyline which keeps residents and visitors engaged.

3. The key to connecting the physical and digital worlds is by rethinking the barriers between them. Stories, social connections, and experiences that occur on digital platforms, inside videogames, and within fictional worlds can be just as influential on our lives as those that occur in physical spaces. Metropolis World is helping to break down those walls, so that people can move effortlessly between the two; we want virtual and real-world experiences to complement each other. While leaving a virtual concert by Steve Aoki, visitors can purchase a limited edition POAP t-shirt that can be worn while walking around town or on their avatar as you walk through the fashion district within a virtual city. We don’t want to replace the physical with the digital; we want to blur the lines between the two and drive interoperability.

4. Metropolis is a destination and a portal to many other metaverse experiences. On top of a city that curates art, commerce, and entertainment, Metropolis is weaving together a rich network of founding citizens who provide their own hubs and tailored getaways. Our community is expanding: our partnerships provide limitless possibilities and decentralized places to explore — such as niche interest groups, underground art collectives, live music, gallery exhibits, and much more! All this co-exists with our citizen and nomad characters, the different districts with their distinct personalities, and the absolute individual and uniqueness of our dynamic 1x1 property NFTs. The beauty of a city lies “beneath its paving stones,” the situationists said; in the stories that we don’t tell.

Whether you’re jumping between virtual tower blocks or gazing up at our sleek and eclectic AR-chitecture, Metropolis is a home to an innovative and unparalleled virtual experience. We’re building a world, breaking down the barriers between different realms, all the while helping you discover different sides of yourself that you never even knew existed. So lose yourself, and find your true city!
