Major Changes Coming to MettaStoic

January of this year, 2019, we created MettaStoic. The entirety of the website was hacked together in approximately 1 hour. It’s a terrible site, in our opinion. We’ve been working on a complete redesign (really excited for the new version!)

So, what’s changed?

Well, aside from the redesign, we’ve removed a lot of the old material, including the PDF files (which took hours to put together, believe it or not), links to other content(for now), etc. Basically, everything the old site had — which is still up, for now — is gone.

Instead, we’re adding the texts of the Stoics right into our website, and creating our own material. For example, we’ve included useful notes that you can read quickly right on the page:

MettaStoic notes for the Meditations
Notes in the Meditations

We did our best not to include too much of these notes, they’re mostly there to give a quick biography of people mentioned throughout the Meditations, or to explain interesting things related to a particular verse.

Currently, we’re thinking of other useful features to add to these texts. Maybe a voice-to-text read along, or a highlighting feature which allows you to add your own notes. (To be discussed in the future).

Anyway, we’re still a few weeks away from launch, so please keep us in mind, and check back frequently!

Farewell,
MettaStoic
