The second in our 5 part #IWD24 blog series | Featuring My Morinder

The 8th March marks International Women’s Day, a globally recognised day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all over the world.

In order to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024, we sat down with five inspiring women in the industry to discuss what this year’s IWD theme of #InspireInclusion means to them. We also chatted about who inspires them, the barriers facing women in business today, and what they hope the future will look like in terms of gender diversity within the workplace.

For the second instalment of our 5 part series, we’re chatting to My Morinder, a Marketing Communications and PR professional with over 14 years of experience working with corporate communications on a global scale, mainly within the ESG and sustainability spheres.

Connect with My:

Q: Hi My! Tell us a little about yourself, and your background?

A: I’m My, a proud Stockholmer with a passion for exploration and connection. Growing up in this vibrant city, I’ve always been captivated by its cultural tapestry and global outlook. Personally, you’ll often find me immersing myself in diverse cultural activities, staying abreast of global affairs, and seeking solace in nature through activities like yoga, meditation, and running. I am interested in psychology as well, mainly in Carl Jung’s tradition.

On a professional note, I bring over 14 years of experience in marketing communications and PR, with a special focus on ESG and sustainability. My journey has taken me from the buzzing corridors of agency life to the strategic realms of in-house departments, all while navigating the dynamic landscapes of startups and established corporations.

Since 2021, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the Senior PR & Communication Manager at Worldfavor. Worldfavor is a leading global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) platform that empowers organizations to drive sustainable business practices. Through innovative technology solutions, Worldfavor enables companies to measure, manage, and communicate their sustainability performance effectively. With a focus on transparency and accountability, Worldfavor helps businesses enhance their environmental and social impact while achieving long-term success.

In this role, I’m entrusted with safeguarding the company’s reputation, amplifying its brand presence, and fostering meaningful dialogue around important ESG issues.

In essence, my personal passions and professional pursuits intertwine seamlessly, driving me to make a positive impact both within and beyond the corporate realm.

Q: International Women’s Day marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality, and this year’s theme is #inspireinclusion. How do you think we can aim to Inspire Inclusion in the workplace today?

A: By leading with empathy and actively seeking out diverse perspectives, we can create a culture where every voice is valued and respected. Embracing inclusive policies and practices ensures that everyone has equal opportunities to thrive and contribute to the collective success of the organization.

Q: Give a shout out to someone who has been a great ally for you or women in your ecosystem — tell us how they advocate and fight for equality and inclusion.

A: I want to recognize Josefin Gullbrandsson, Head of Marketing & Communication at Worldfavor, whose unwavering support and advocacy have been instrumental in empowering women in our ecosystem. She consistently champions diversity and inclusion, whether by amplifying women’s voices in meetings or advocating for inclusive hiring practices. Her commitment to equality sets a powerful example for others to follow.

Q: What do you think are three traits that brilliant and inspiring women leaders possess?

A: Resilience, empathy, and the courage to challenge the status quo. Brilliant women leaders navigate obstacles with grace, understand the needs of their team members, and fearlessly advocate for positive change.

Q: What do you hope the future will look like in terms of diversity within the workplace?

A: I envision a future where diversity is not just a goal but a reality in every workplace. A future where individuals from all backgrounds are empowered to bring their authentic selves to work, leading to greater innovation, collaboration, and success for all.

Q: Based on your own experience, how can we encourage more women to pursue entrepreneurship or senior leadership roles in their career? What is the most important message you would want to give them?

A: We can encourage more women by providing mentorship, creating networking opportunities, and actively addressing gender biases in the workplace. My message to aspiring women leaders is this: Believe in yourself, embrace your unique strengths, and never let anyone dim your light.
