We’re over the moon to see PeakState.org launch globally this week. Peak State helps people improve their mental strength and resilience, through a series of digital tools and products. We are delighted to be Peak State’s design & development partner.

Peak State was founded by David Wiseman and Nathan Jones, who were injured whilst serving with the British military in Afghanistan. Through their combined experiences in the military, in post-injury recovery, and through high-level sporting competition, they realised the important role that adopting a proactive approach to mental fitness plays in unlocking potential and increasing performance.

The Peak State website offers free videos, resources and techniques, helping people to focus on their mental fitness as part of their daily routine. These resources encourage people to check in with themselves, challenge what may be holding them back, and make the changes needed to become more mentally fit. By giving people simple and easy to use practical tools they need to make mental fitness a key part of their daily routine, David and Nathan are hoping that people will proactively look after their mental health in the same way that they do their physical health. People go to the doctors for a check-up, exercise regularly and eat healthily to look after their physical wellbeing but often only focus on their mental wellbeing when a problem has already arisen. Peak State wants to change this way of thinking.

These resources encourage people to check in with themselves, challenge what may be holding them back, and makethe changes needed to become more mentally fit. By giving people simple and easy to use practical tools they need to make mental fitness a key part of their daily routine, the team at Peak State are hoping that people will proactively look after their mental health in the same way that they do their physical health.

For decades, high-performing individuals have understood the benefits of training their mind as well as their body to become the best possible version of themselves. Many of the Peak State techniques such as breath work, grounding and visualisation are based on those used by professional athletes. Working with psychologists, sport scientists and professional athletes to develop the resources, Peak State is underpinned by two well-researched and well-established psychological models: the cognitive behavioural model and the emotional regulation model. By understanding why people think, feel and behave in particular ways, they are more likely to able to control their response to situations.

Peak State is supported by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex who has been an advocate of mental fitness for a number of years. In a video featured on the Peak State website, Prince Harry said: “By providing accessible tools and resources that can be incorporated into our everyday busy lives, Peak State aims to help people take a proactive approach to the good management of good mental health. Taking time to focus on your mental fitness in everyday life is just as important as staying physically healthy and the benefits are immense. Build your mental fitness and attain your peak state.”

Following a year which has challenged everyone physically and psychologically, it’s fantastic to see another partner on a mission to develop and support mental fitness. We’re incredibly proud of the work the Peak State team are doing and feel very privileged to be their product design & development partner.
