Mexico thru my eyes 29/40

A collage of random discoveries made while wandering

A facade communicates: It makes a statement of character and creates a reaction in return. A building can be perceived as grandiose, imposing, fancy, showy, daring, elegant, cold, inconspicuous or boring. It can also be welcoming, happy, sincere and warm. All of these sensations can be driven by a facade.

As with everything else in Mexico, color is the name of the game in architecture, too. Regardless of the social status of a neighborhood, most of the buildings, modern and traditional, rich and poor, are painted in bright tones. You can rarely see houses that are white, beige or gray. Instead, you have a vibrant palette of blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, red, all bursting with joy while conveying a warm welcome.

Walking in the streets and looking at facades is a fascinating experience in Mexico.

P.S. The vignettes do not have a set order; shuffle and explore as you like.
