Call For Writings To Unearthing Mexico
Open to Contributors!
Mexico has given me everything. I have traveled and lived in the different cultural regions of its territory.
Eating, drinking, palpating, and breathing each region's customs, traditions, and flavors.
I love its plurality and multiculturalism and even the changes sculpting today’s culture of Mexico.
Do you also have something positive to share about Mexico with the world?
Do you have travel anecdotes, memories, or inspiring stories about Mexico or Mexicans inside or outside this country?
Can you share a review of an article or book on Archeology, History, Anthropology, or any scientific branch about México or Mesoamerica that could positively impact readers?
If the answer is yes, then your writing is welcome!
Also, the best stories of the year would be in a digital book sponsored by The Intercontinental Association for Mexican Cultural Heritage A.C. (AIPCM A.C for its acronym in Spanish).
Who can submit
Anybody with an account on Medium
What to submit
- One single and finished writing at a time. Please, ONLY ONE at a time.
- It can be humorous anecdotes, memories, essays, poetry, reviews, or prose.
- Your scientist’s work has already been published but rewritten in non-technical or academic language for dissemination and referenced with the original (and the link).
- Reviews of the scientific work of other authors are accepted as long as they are cited correctly and in non-academic or technical language. The intention is to disseminate science and culture entertainingly
Guidelines
- The minimum reading length is 5 min, and the maximum is 12 min.
- The main headline should be in the largest title text, with an initial letter cap in every word. A subheading is required and should be written as a sentence with an initial cap in the smaller title text.
- In titles and subtitles, always use numbers, while in texts, spell the numbers from one to nine and then use numbers from 10 and above. Ages and decades are always numerical (for example, 12 years or the 90s).
- If you want to emphasize something, use italics. The bold style is only for titles and subtitles. Do not use only capital letters in any case.
- When we refer to information already published in the writings of someone else, we use APA style to quote or paraphrase the text: https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/citations/basic-principles
- To List sources cited in the final part of the text alphabetically according to APA style (only if you are quoting or paraphrasing someone else’s information), use a free citation generator on the web or in paid platforms like Grammarly or Scribd.
- Include at least one good-quality image related to the content and include credits corresponding to the image. This image should come exactly after the subtitle.
- I do not accept mockery or offensive content for people or groups because of their physical condition, economic or social situation, sexual preferences, etc.
- I do not accept AI-generated content and no plagiarism.
- If you can also provide a copy in Spanish (well written), I will upload it to the México Unearthed profile on LinkedIn for the Latin-American audience, but this is not mandatory.
- I will respond within a review period of up to three weeks.
When to submit
I accept articles on an ongoing basis, except a few times a year during vacations or editor trips, which will be announced on social media and in the email autoresponder.
