Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love writing but figured this week’s post would document our process a little differently. Outside of design, I dabble in lifestyle and wedding photography, so I naturally wanted to bring to life our design process in a tangible way.

Our first design sprint that began right at 10 am on a crisp Saturday morning and ran until 4:30 pm. These images give you a taste of what being a user researcher and designer is like. This phase is absolutely our favorite.

The psuedo “off-site” took place in Shadyside at Ishaan Kolluri’s home.
Getting my camera settings just right. And ooh, there’s Selin Insel!
15 jump jacks to Eye of the Tiger. Just because.
Wooohooo Jia Liu in the house! And then prepping the white board with ground rules and our How Might We’s.
We kicked off our design sprint session with 8-ish minutes to write as many ideas as we could.
Placing post-it’s on the wall, discussing our ideas, and adding new ones.
Categorizing our ideas.
Each person took a theme and ran with it for 10 minutes.
Listening to explanations of each other’s sketch.
From where I sat.
Mapping out the EMR implementation service journey.
Taking notes during an impromptu call with an implementation consultant.
Synthesizing findings from the call.
Lunch Break in Bakery Square at Choolah, followed by a caffeine run at Adda.
Selin Insel takes notes during our user personas discussion.
Round 2 of wireframing in teams.
Snuck over to the dudes for a quick second to capture their sketches in action.
Presenting our solutions to one another.
HIT Squad. Don’t mess.

Annnnnd that’s it for Spring Saturday, take one. Did you have fun scrolling?

Now now, don’t worry. We’ll be sharing the nitty gritty of our design sprints, its structure, and breaking down each sprint’s output for you in the coming weeks.

It’s been an honor and joy working with these folks, especially photographing a pivotal day as we bring pen to paper.

Upward and onward,

Daphne
