LudaDay Weekend Takes Over Atlanta

Over the past 11 years, LudaDay Weekend has become a part of the Atlanta Labor Day weekend culture. Every year, the entertainment industry’s best of the best come out to support Ludacris’ annual weekend of charity fundraising events. While the weekend may come off to attendees as a chance to turn up, meet celebrities and hit the clubs every night, there is a true purpose behind each event.
Since 2001, the Ludacris Foundation has been about helping youth help themselves. The foundation has donated more than 10,000 hours to youth across the country in service. The LudaDay Weekend events are only a small portion of programs that assist youth involved in the foundation.
This year’s festivities began on Thursday with a kick off party hosted by Ludacris and friends at Opera Night Club. During the following day, Ludacris hosted a celebrity golf tournament. Later that evening, the Chicken-n-Beer rapper hosted a charity bowling tournament at Bowlmor Lanes. Several charitable organizations such as the Ludacris Foundation and Disturbing the Peace Records competed for bragging rights and bowling supremacy. Following the bowling tournament, the Black Hollywood Party was held at the Gold Room. Some friends of Ludacris’ who showed up to show support include Michael B. Jordan, Terrence Jenkins, Lance Gross, and Larenz Tate. On Saturday, Ludacris hosted a movie premiere for the newly released film Storks for Atlanta area youth at Regal Cinemas located at Atlantic Station. That evening Ludacris and friends took over Compound Night Club. Celebrities in attendance were Karrueche Tran, Teyana Taylor, retired NFL player Marshawn Lynch, and Power’s Joseph Sikora. Although these were highly anticipated events during the weekend, the main event occurred on Sunday.
On Sunday, the largest event of the weekend took place at Morehouse College. Thousands of people filed into Forbes Arena to witness the celebrity basketball game. Team Luda representing Ludacris and Team Rozay representing rapper Rick Ross competed for bragging rights of the year in hopes to take home a victory. Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and Georgia native Kristi Castlin, boxer Adrien Broner, singer and actor Tank, Sacramento Kings’ Matt Barnes, comedian DC Young Fly and Atlanta Hawks’ Andre Drummond and Malcolm Delaney are just a few of the heavy-hitting names who participated in the game.
In a room full of world-renowned celebrities and athletes, all attention was focused on University of Nevada, Las Vegas basketball twin stars Dakota and Dylan Gonzalez.
During the game, we caught up with Dylan and Dakota Gonzalez. Check out their interview below.
Afterwards, those in attendance attended a Topgolf takeover hosted by Atlanta Hawks’ Kent Bazemore. The weekend came to a close with a day party hosted by Ludacris, rapper Jeezy, and 50 Cent at Compound on Labor Day.
LudaDay Weekend proves to be one of the most anticipated weekends in the Atlanta area every year. If you missed out on all the craziness that went down this year, you have a whole year to plan to get yourself to the place to be during Labor Day weekend 2017.
