Matrix, one of the most successful movie franchises in history, has been sparking conversations since it announced its fourth installation — scheduled to hit theaters in December 2021.
The movie, aptly named The Matrix Resurrections, is bringing back characters that shaped a generation and that’s not the only reason people are hype about it.
Along with the theater release, Warner Bros. — the studio behind the film — will be selling NFTs based on the character’s designs, but they’ll not be like a simple collectible. Following the trend of CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club, each of the 100 thousand NFTs is unique and will be sold at the starting price of U$ 50 on the platform Nifty starting on November 30.
What sets them apart is the choice that’ll be given to collectors on December 16, just a few days before the release, to take either the red or the blue pill. Those who chose the blue pill will keep their character as is, while those who choose the red one will see their character transform into a fighter for the resistance. Considering the collectible value, those who buy the NFTs will have to consider carefully which pill to take.
Warner says more interactions and challenges will follow the initial release that’ll allow users to change and add to their avatars.
