“Spider-man: No Way Home” is following the path laid out by other movie franchises and dropping an NFT collection alongside its theatrical release. Partnering with AMC Theaters, Sony Pictures will distribute 86,000 NFTs with 100 different designs to eligible buyers.

AMC calls this joint effort “the first of its kind from a major theatrical exhibitor”. The drops will be registered on the WAX blockchain, an energy-efficient alternative to proof-of-work platforms.

But it’s not as simple as buying the tickets to the first screening. First you’d have to be a member of Stubs Premiere, A-List or AMC Investor Connect to be able to buy your ticket and, given the high demand for both the tickets and the collectibles, can only be redeemed if they are actually used to attend the movie.

Tickets were on sale on November 29 and the movie is set to premiere on December 16. The lucky ones who managed to secure a ticket with the freebie will receive an email on December 22 with a code for their NFT that can be redeemed until March 1, 2022.
