2018 XXL Freshman Class Predictions!
The XXL Freshman Class is a group of 10 rappers that blew up the following year. In this instant 2017 was the year these rappers blew up and have a chance at gaining a bigger name for themselves using XXL. Today I will show you guys my predictions on the 10 spots and a description.
Joyner Lucas- After remixing a whole lot of songs for awhile finally got a big hit in “I’m Not Racist”. Which caused some controversy but all in all was a great song. Joyner often brings up his love for old school rappers. Joyner would be considered a Top 30 Rapper ever if he rapped in the 90’s-00’s. Joyner has an amazing chance at making it and I can’t wait to see his freestyle.
Favorite Song: Gucci Gang (Remix)
Ski Mask the Slump God- Came into 2017 and everyone was saying he only got popular because of XXXTentacion and that he couldn’t make a hit without him, but he proved us wrong and dropped BabyWipe and Catch Me Outside. Ski Mask honestly has the best flow currently in rap. Don’t @ me!

smokepurpp- One of my least favorite on this list is no other than smokepurpp. I only kind of like one song from him being Audi. Honestly he got fame off Pump that isn’t deserved at all. I’m scared to listen to his freestyle when it comes out, and if were being real it could be one of the worst ever.
Favorite Song: Audi
Lil Pump- My least favorite rapper for sure. Blatantly just repeats words and has no flow whatsoever. But unfortunately he has a whole lot of hits and people really like him so he could most definitely be the 10 spot fan vote if XXL doesn’t choose him.
Favorite Song: Flex Like Ouu
Trippie Redd- Is on fire right now. I’ve been a big fan of Trippie since before the first Love Letter To You. Trippie has dropped so many songs lately with other rappers on top of the game such as, 6ix9ine, Swae Lee, Travis Scott and, Rich The Kid. His connection with XXXTentacion may have a say in him making it as well, as the XXL members loved him last year.
Favorite Song: Love Scars
Lil Xan- Although he doesn’t do xanax anymore it’s in his name and that’s the only thing holding him back is having Xan in his name. Although I do think he’ll still make it. He is a one hit wonder but many one hit wonders have came on and then had more hits afterwards (Amine).
Favorite Song: Betrayed
Kevin Abstract- Kevin Abstract is apart of a group called BROCKHAMPTON which includes 8 members. They dropped 3 albums in 2017 but I don’t believe they will let all 8 members. So maybe they just put in Abstract. Hopefully he makes it in because I really like his songs.
Favorite Song: Star
Rich The Kid- Arguably should’ve made it last year over people such as Playboi Carti and Kamaiyah but didn’t. So this is his year as he actually got Kendrick Lamar to feature on New Freezer. Also featured Famous Dex, Migos and Trippie Redd.
Favorite Song: Early Morning Trappin
Jaden Smith- The first thing people to say when they hear his name is “Daddy made him famous.” Which may be a little true but Daddy didn’t make his album a Top 3 this year did it? No it didn’t, Jaden proved to us with an amazing album (Syre), with a song called Icon. The thing about Icon is that Jaden used a beat from the 1930’s, the beat from Icon came from a song called The Hi De Ho Man.
Favorite Song: George Jeff
Lil Skies- Every year there is a Singer/Rapper to hold down a key part in the Cypher. We’ve seen PnB Rock and August Alsina in that position and honestly I think Lil Skies will do well with that. With a good song that blew up on soundcloud Red Roses I can see Lil Skies in XXL.
