Ian Pilkington is an avid skier who has been flying down the slopes for over 12 years. He has traveled across the United States skiing down some of the best hills around. As winter is fast approaching, it seems appropriate to provide a beginner’s guide to skiing.

For as long as he can remember, Ian has always loved to ski. The rush that it gives him fuels his passion for the sport. Over the years Ian has accumulated a lot of knowledge and experience. Skiing has allowed Ian to travel to states such as Utah and Montana. These states have offered him plenty of practice to refine his skills and to challenge his abilities.

Ian’s biggest piece of advice for beginners is to take your time. He recommends that the first thing people should do is get a trainer. They can help to teach the fundamentals of the sport. There are a variety of types of skiing. These include Alpine, Glades, and Moguls. Each one offers a much different experience. Beginners should be aware of the different ski shapes and sizes. Whether you are going down a traditional ski hill, or powder trail, you will want to make sure you have the right ski for the terrain.

“It takes a long time to get to where I’m at personally… You just have to take your time with skiing… It takes years and years to get to moguls and glade skiing”

Skiing is a sport filled with adrenaline rushes and fun. As you start out, make sure to take your time and learn the basics of the sport. Choose the right gear for your situation. This will keep you safe so you can enjoy your time on the slopes.
