Flagstar Bank is sponsoring a business challenge for students to gain hands on skills with developing a tech-based recommendation to a real world problem. In teams of 3–5, students will work to identify potential solutions and present in front of a panel of judges.

Teams have the opportunity to practice business skills, network with the Flagstar team, and win cash prizes.

Students of all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to participate in this opportunity.

Please note that this opportunity is only open to current undergraduate students at the University of Michigan.

“How does technology play a role in the Branch of the Future? How can Flagstar attract, retain, and engage consumers, utilizing new market technologies combined with the company’s physical geography?”

This is a case study from Flagstar Bank and simulates strategic decisions that the company may face. Each group of finalists will analyze different strategic opportunities and prepare a 10-minute presentation and then answer 5 minutes of questions from a panel of judges.

The Michigan Fintech Business Challenge presented by Flagstar Bank has been designed to provide interested undergraduate students with an opportunity to demonstrate and further develop their analytical, critical thinking and creative skills in a business context. While there will be a “winning team”, all participants will benefit from the experience. The case is ideal for those students considering a career in banking, consulting, corporate finance, or technology. The presentations by the finalists will also allow the panel of judges from Flagstar Bank to observe students’ presentation and analytical skills (prompt).
