The Micro-Chop Daily X

A Micro-Chop playlist featuring 10 hand-picked instrumentals — every single day for an entire year.

As a big fan of long-form projects, I’m often hesitant to create bite sized articles and playlists. Having said that, my main objective with Micro-Chop is to showcase the music and stories of as many great artists, MCs, musicians, and producers as possible. If I want to keep people engaged, I need to accept the reality that long-form isn’t right for everyone 100% of the time.

Many people who visit my site don’t necessarily have the time or desire to listen to a 104-track instrumental playlist — though I’m going to continue making those as long as the site is up and running. They might not want to listen to five straight hours of Dilla or 69 tracks worth of Black Thought. For some people, putting such high demands on their attention and time can feel like a significant burden.

So I’ve decided to try a little experiment. I’m still going to do my crazy deep dive articles and playlists because I believe they have value. At the same time, I’m going to start releasing a daily Spotify playlist featuring 10 hand-picked instrumentals from a variety of eras, geographic locations, and scenes. For people who want a quick sampling of new beat makers and producers that I enjoy listening to, this is a perfect way to check out some great music without having to dedicate one third of your waking hours.

My goal is to do this every single day for an entire year. Hopefully by the time 8/29/2019 rolls around, you’ll have 365 daily playlists to sift through with 3650 total instrumentals to bump.

The first playlist in this series features the following artists, with each name hyperlinked to bring you directly to their Bandcamp page: OBUXUM, AJ Rios, Seneca B, Foul Mouth, The A3, TOKiMONSTA, Kilamanzego, EXT, J Dilla, and Tuamie.

Be on the lookout for a new The Micro-Chop Daily X dropping every single day for the next year.

As always, thanks for reading and listening.
