Lightning had a hand in it too

Above Hazel hills, the lightning would dance as it flashed over green yonder.

Witches watch and shepherds look after their flock, hoping to save them from the dance.

But it was on special nights that thunder would be lightning’s dancing partner.

The shepherds couldn’t see, but the witches would watch the thunder spirits hold the lightning hand in hand as they danced around the night sky.

It was as beautiful as it was terrifying, as all magnificent things are.

“You will be safe,” says the shepherd to his sheep.

“If only I could dance like that,” said the witches to the spirits, and they whisper back, “you did once and you will again.”

Shepards reassured and witches reminisced, on the night that thunder danced.
